My Journey to Family Law

After 30 years of business litigation and executive management, I chose to become a divorce attorney because family law utilizes all of my legal, business and interpersonal skills.

Legal Skills

I am a detail-oriented and meticulous lawyer, a skilled legal researcher and a persuasive writer. Also, I have had extensive courtroom experience, having tried dozens of cases to juries, judges and arbitrators. I am a skillful and persuasive advocate for my clients, helping them to achieve the most advantageous outcomes.

Business Skills

As a business executive, I managed budgets and cash flow. I also regularly reviewed and analyzed financial statements. Additionally, I successfully negotiated numerous contracts with outside vendors. These business skills are directly applicable to divorces cases, which involve analysis of household budgets and finances to determine child & spousal support. Also, my superb negotiating skills allow me to achieve favorable out-of-court settlements, which avoid trial, resulting in savings to my clients of thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees.

Interpersonal Skills

I am a patient and compassionate listener. Although I always apply logic and objectivity when assessing legal outcomes, I present these outcomes to my clients with empathy and understanding.

Versatility

My superpower is being a good listener and supportive with clients, while also being strong and forceful with opposing counsel and judges. My ability to seamlessly shift into whatever role is most effective, depending upon the situation, is what distinguishes me from other divorce lawyers.
